Depression
According to the World Health Organization[WHO],Depression is the main cause of disability worldwide.It can affect adults,adolescents,and children.Sadness,feeling down,and having loss of interest or pleasure in daily activities could cause depression.Depression is a mood disorder that involves a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest.Major bereavements like loss of job,family,heartbreaks can lead to depression.
Depression is an ongoing problem,not a passing one,it might persist for at least 2 weeks before it remains constant.The symptoms of depression can include:
*Reduced interest or pleasure in activities once enjoyed
*Changes in appetites
*Agitation,restlessness,and pacing up and down
*Slowed movement and speech
*Feelings of worthlessness or guilt
*Recurrent thoughts of death or suicide
*Difficulty thinking,concentrating,or making decisions
*Fatigue or loss of energy
*Sleeping too much or little
*Loss in sexual desires
The likes of irritability,anxiety,mood swings,fatigues,dwelling on negative thoughts tend to appear often in females.
There are many possible causes ,and sometimes ,various factors which could include:
*Genetic features
*Changes in the brain's neurotransmitter levels
*Environmental factors
*Psychological and social factors
Treatment or helping someone with depression out could include:
*Support
*Encouraging them
*Psychoteraphy ;which could include counselling and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy[CBT]
