RAPE
WHAT IS RAPE?
Rape is unlawful sexual activity, which involve sexual intercourse , against the will of the victim through force or the threat of force or with an individual who is incapable of giving legal consent because of minor status, mental illness, mental deficiency , intoxication, unconsciousness, or deception. In many jurisdictions, the crime of rape has been subsumed under that of sexual assault. Rape was long considered to be caused by unbridled sexual desire, but it is now understood as a pathological assertion of power over a victim.
EFFECT AND CONSEQUENCE OF RAPE
- Vaginal or anal bleeding or infection
- Hypoactive sexual desire disorder
- Vaginitis or vaginal inflammation
- Dyspareunia – painful sexual intercourse
- Vaginismus – a condition affecting a woman's ability to engage in any form of vaginal penetration
- Chronic pelvic pain
- Urinary tract infections
- Pregnancy
- HIV/AIDS
- Pregnancy
- Anxiety:After an attack, rape survivors experience heightened anxiety and fear. survivors of rape have high levels of anxiety and phobia-related anxiety.
SOLUTION TO RAPE
- Recognize that people neither ask for nor deserve to be abused, harassed, assaulted or raped—ever.
- Support and believe survivors of sexual violence.
- Bring awareness and challenge victim-blaming statements.
- Give constructive input about why comments or jokes that perpetuate rape culture or sexism are not okay.
- Get help or take action by directly intervening when you see someone taking advantage of a person who is not capable of giving consent.
