Going late to work is a terrible thing to do, and it’s one that many people have become accustomed to, that it’s a huge part of their lives.

Being late to work or being a perpetual latecomer is something you shouldn’t become if you want to go far in your given career.
These are some reasons you should never make lateness to work a part of your life:
1. YOU CREATE A BAD IMPRESSION ABOUT YOURSELF

Right from my younger days as a school student, the students always came late to school had a bad image; their lateness made other students have a bad perception about them. If such a perception can be built in colleges and secondary schools, it would even be worse in an organisation.
You create an image of nonchalance, lacking commitment and being lazy when you are known as a perpetual latecomer.
2. YOU ENTER YOUR BOSS’S BAD BOOKS

Diligence and commitment are very important if you want to take your career to the next level. However, when you are known as a latecomer, you would never be the employee that’s trusted with tasking jobs and it would never be you who gets that promotion or salary raise.
3. YOU WON’T BE PRODUCTIVE
Going late to work can also kill your productivity. There is always a tense feeling when you always hurry to work and end up late. Going early to work would help you settle in your environment and get your mind focused for the day’s task. Whereas going late to work would only unsettle you and kill your productivity level.

4. YOU SET BAD EXAMPLES
Managers and top bosses go late to work and see nothing wrong in it, but this is also wrong. When you go late to work, you set bad examples to your subordinates who look up to you.
5. IT’S NEVER IDEAL

It’s never ideal in the first place to go late to work; it’s against every organisation’s culture, ethics and expectations of the management. Going to work late is a terrible ethic that shouldn’t be a part of you.

Going late to work shows nonchalance and is a sign of noncommittal to effectively carry out your designated duty. You also make yourself unworthy of getting a recommendation when you have this lifestyle.
