In our modern society people are more stressed than ever before. There are a lot of people who feel like they are working harder than ever but they are not making any progress at work. To make matters worse, there are many people who feel like they home life is suffering. Now is the time to start planning out your life to be more balanced and productive. It is not the amount of time that you spend at work that matters, it is the amount that you produce. For many people, being more productive at work can mean shaving several hours a day off of their work schedule.

Family: Many people neglect their family for other pursuits in their life. If you have children it does not matter how successful you are in life if you do not spend time with them. There are a lot of people who have climbed the corporate ladder to success only to realize they have neglected their family along the way. In order to build your relationship with your family, make sure you set aside quality time to spend with them every day. There are going to be days when this is not possible. However, you should still try to have a meaningful conversation with them to see how their day is going. Many children act like they do not need parental involvement in their lives but deep down they are craving more time and attention from their parents.

Health and Work:  Many people have neglected their health in favor of their work. Although this may work in the beginning, over time you are going to be less productive in your job if you are not eating healthy and exercising. There are a lot of people who are excited about all of the innovation that is going on in this field. There are ways that you can live longer and healthier than ever before. The wheel of life is a useful tool to understand how to balance your life. On this wheel, there are various categories that relate to your life. Work is one of those categories and for the vast majority of people, this is the biggest way that they can improve on their current situation. In our modern society, it is common for people to lose sleep and have too much stress because of situations they are dealing with at work.  In your work life, you have to get on a plan that makes sense for you. Working 60 or 70 hours a week at your daily job is not sustainable over time. There are a lot of people who try to do this but then they end up getting burned out. You have stay to focused at work which is made easier by having a balanced life full of exercise and sleep. Many people are chronically stressed today although some people reach for pills to deal with the stress and there are better ways to go about dealing with it.If you can work reasonable hours at work and get on an exercise plan, you will see your chronic stress levels drop quickly. 

Stress from the workplace has been an issue for years and it will continue to be an issue if things do not change. Staying up late and getting up early to answer a lot of emails from your boss is not a plan that is sustainable. If you want to take control of your health, you have to start working less. Never take your stress from work to home with you. Learning how to control stress and tension is essential to living a healthy and balanced life. If you are not on an exercise plan, you need to take time every day to do so. There are many studies that show exercise is a great way to improve your mental clarity and your physical performance. Many people deal with work related stress throughout their entire life and this is not a good way to enhance other areas of your life.

Social Life: Once someone enters the workforce, their social life tends to go down quickly. Few people have the time or energy to worry about their friends once they are working so many hours and have a family to manage. However, your social life is an important part of your overall life plan. If you neglect your friends, those are relationships that you will never be able to get back. Instead of neglecting these relationships, take some time to meet with your friends on a regular basis. There are a lot of people who do this with a high level of success. Over time, you will be able to have a much better life if you have friends to confide in along the way.

Personal Development: Another important element of the wheel of life is personal development. Many industries in the economy are changing rapidly and you have to stay on top of these changes. Over time, these changes will end up affecting your career if you do not stay educated. Many people  feel like they do not have time to spend on sharpening their work skills. In our modern world, changes in entire industries are happening faster than ever. Not only should you improve your personal development at every chance that you get, you should also take the time to study about what is going on in your field.
