7 Signs Your Personality Is Annoying For People Around You

1. Your Friends And Family Constantly Tell You To Cheer Up And To Look At The Bright Side Of Things
If you have heard this more than once, then the chances are that you are a pessimist – and nobody likes a pessimist who only anticipates the bad and undesireable outcomes in life! Negative people and whiners tend to drain other people’s energy, and nobody really wants to put up with that. As a matter of fact, this is a guaranteed way to push your friends away, for good.
If you are always grumpy and you constantly complain about how miserable your life is, then you should consider doing something about it instead of just putting it out there and projecting your negativity onto other people’s lives. Everybody is fighting a hard battle that you know nothing about – just because those around you do not constantly tell you what they are going through in their personal life, it does not mean they are living in a fairytale.
2. Your Co-Workers Tell You That You Are Very Patronizing
Being condescending and superior is undoubtedly one of the most distasteful and annoying personality traits a human being can have these days. Everybody should be treated equally and with dignity, and if you exude superiority through every pore, then the chances are that everybody at the office (and at home too, for that matter) secretly hates you. Sometimes, people are being condescending without even realizing it – if you think this may be your case as well, then make sure to always keep an open mind and to listen to what those around you have to say about you. You might actually learn something that may help you become a better person!
This character flaw actually goes hand in hand with yet another extremely annoying and bothersome personality trait – arrogance. Being self-confident and knowing what you bring to the table is one thing, but if you are constantly arrogant and self-centered, that is certainly very off-putting for most people. If you are being arrogant and you feel that your friends have slowly started to distance themselves from you, then the chances are that they’re silently telling themselves: “Good riddance!”.
3. You Are Always The One People Come To For The Latest Gossip
If your friends or mere acquaintances come to you to find out the latest gossip, then the chances are that you are considered to be the “smack talker” of the group – and that is not exactly a compliment. Everybody tends to gossip every now and then, and most of the time it is actually harmless. However, when you focus exclusively on other people’s flaws and you try to bring them down just to make yourself feel a bit better, then the chances are that those around you see you as incredibly annoying, or even mean. A secure person whose self-esteem and self-confidence is intact would never feel the need to bring other people down or to emphasize on their flaws.
4. You Are Always Late And Unreliable
If you have been told that you are late and unreliable more than once, then not only do you lack punctuality, but you also lack decency and seriousness, which is certainly very annoying. Everybody can be a bit late every now and then, but if you are never there on time and you have made a habit out of being late (be it to school, work or in your personal life), then there is only that much your friends can handle. Unreliable people can be very irritating!
5. You Are Constantly Competing
Being in a constant competition with your friends or your significant other is not only very annoying, but it is also an absolutely exhausting personality trait that people do not like to put up with. If other people told you before that you are in a constant competition with people, then this actually shows just how insecure you are, and it reflects negatively on you. Direct competitors are unconsciously seeking attention and validation, which can be particularly annoying for those who are more “spiritually and culturally evolved” than you.
6. You Are Selfish And Temperamental
Nobody likes selfish people who always put themselves first, before their friends, family or even before their significant other (who, ultimately, is called “significant” for a reason). On the other hand, if you tend to get all heated up in the middle of a debate and to let your short-tempered, then this can really annoy the other people involved in the debate or conversation. In the end, a conversation should be based on mutual respect, and if you tend to raise your voice to impose your opinion or point of view, that will certainly not take you very far.
7. You Are Plain Rude
Manners and politeness will never become old-fashioned, and that is a known fact. Nobody wants to put up with a rude and offensive person – no matter if you are acting in a rude manner or you disrespect those around you, this will certainly annoy people sooner or later. Ultimately, we live in a society where mutual respect and appreciation should be considered one of the pillars of modern life, and if you are being rude, then people will slowly push you away.
To sum it all up, these are some of the most obvious signs that one or more of your personality traits are annoying to those that surround you, and that now is the time to do something about that if you still want to keep your friends close!
