MAINTAINING END-OF-YEAR MOTIVATION

Maintaining end-of-year motivation

It is important to remember that we are not nocturnal creatures. The colder, cooler days may be upon us but that doesn’t mean we need to hibernate! This time of year is a great opportunity to think about you and re-focus on achieving your goals without any distractions. So let’s look at some simple techniques to revisit your goals, evaluate your progress and stay on track for the rest of the year.

Staying positive

It is easy to lose motivation towards the end of the year, but why stop when you are so close to the finish line? There is still plenty of time to catch up on working towards the goals you set earlier in the year. A positive first step is to take note of what you have achieved so far; so grab your notebook and simply write these down, create a graph or even draw something that represents your accomplishments. You might be surprised at what’s been completed in the last 10 months and even if you haven’t achieved as much as you would have liked, taking the time to review and set realistic targets for the rest of 2019 will help you focus on finishing the year on a high.

Habit track to stay active

Keeping active, even if you are not working towards specific goals, is a great way to keep yourself fresh and motivated through the winter months. Whether this is fitness or doing other hobbies you enjoy, we believe that staying active can help to increase your personal and professional development. Use a section of your journal or notebook to set up a simple habit tracker in order to commit to a weekly or daily program of good habits.

Keep quotes for motivation

We love a good quote to help us stay motivated, even more so at this time of the year! We like to stick these in our journal or around our workplace to remind us that we are doing great and before we know it, it will be time to relax again. If you share our love of these, here are some of our favorites to help get you back on track:

The starting point of all achievement is desire. - Napolean Hill

All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them. - Walt Disney

For there was something very comfortable in having plenty of stationery. - Charles Dickens

The river cuts through rock, not because of its power, but because of its persistence. - James Watkins

Whoever said the small things don’t matter have never seen a match start a wildfire. - Beau Taplin

The comeback is always stronger than the setback – Achieve the Impossible

The love of stationery has been a constant in my life - its analog simplicity a wonderful antidote to an increasingly digital world – Jill Pinner, Say Nice Things

“What good is the warmth of summer, without the cold of winter to give it sweetness.” - John Steinbeck

Do something today that your future self will thank you for - Achieve the Impossible

“Genius can write on the back of envelopes but mere talent requires the finest stationery available.” - Dorothy Parker
