This process can damage your skin’s collagen which leads to the look of aging in the skin. Collagen is the protein that helps keep the skin firm.

2. Alcohol

It is important for the liver to function properly to rid the body of toxins. These toxins can cause skin problems like acne and wrinkles if not properly cleansed from the body.

Alcohol impacts the ability of the liver to work properly and can contribute to a buildup of toxins in the body.

Alcohol also impacts your sleep cycle which can result in poor long term health and faster signs of aging.

3. Processed Meats

Sausage, bacon and other processed meats have preservatives and sulfates which can trigger inflammation in the skin and create the look of puffiness.

Try to switch to healthier meats like lean turkey or chicken.

4. Caffeine

Caffeine causes your body to excrete fluids and contributes to dehydration. This dehydration can make your skin look tired and aged.

Try to limit the amount of caffeine you have especially soda drinks which have the additional problem of sugar.

Make an extra effort to drink lots of water throughout the day especially after having caffeinated drinks to keep your body hydrated. Your body and your skin will thank you for it !

5. Spicy Foods

Spicy food dilates the blood vessels and can contribute to potential flareups in people with sensitive skin like rosacea.

People who enjoy eating spicy food might experience puffiness or redness in the skin and potentially aggravate issues like varicose veins.

6. Burnt Meat

The black char from BBQ food can contribute to inflammation in the body. This inflammation can break down collagen in the skin which leads to wrinkles and less supple skin.

Keep your grill clean and try to reduce the black char on BBQ food when cooking.
