THINKING

“As a man thinks… so is he” most of us might have come across this quote from the Bible. Well, if you haven’t, the verse recons with the thought or thinking pattern of a “man”: the relationship between his thoughts and his person. Have you also come across a saying that “you are what you eat”? Meaning: you are what you consume (not necessarily food); what you put in (not compulsorily your stomach but your mind).

When a baby born, his mind is likened to a clean slate ready to be written on or a cleared and fresh soil for planting, however, he has no choice to make at that initial stage. All his choices were made on his behalf by his family. Gradually, the baby starts learning and picking things (good or bad) from his surroundings and as he grows, his surroundings play a crucial role in planting seeds on the field of his heart and also writing on his slate. That baby eventually grows into the sum total of what his environment has put on his inside making him the reflection of the environment.
There is a philosophical argument about what we humans are made of: what product are we, either nature or nurture. I’d say we are both the product of nature and nurture. A man can’t live outside the world that surrounds him. That explains people from different places and their ideologies and their thinking patterns. For instance, there are some undeniable and yet predictable facts about some particular places or regions in Nigeria; there is a way most northerners perceive life and that is different from the westerners.

In spite of our outside world, we still have a choice to either submit to what is being offered to us or not. We can choose what to allow and stay in our minds, what to believe and ultimately how to act. It all boils down to the mindset. How is your “mindset”? Build your mind with helpful information. Be positive no matter what. You are what you take inward mostly through your ears and your eyes.

It is a new week, THINK RIGHT, THINK POSITIVE and THINK STRONG!
